On the internet, Big Bands Database Plus has this to say about Ladd and the band: "Not only is this truly one of the best of the 'West Coast Jazz' genre bands, but also a band known - and loved - worldwide. The band, based in the Los Angeles, CA area but touring widely, has been thrilling it’s fans since 1980, and surely that speaks volumes about it’s musical quality and popularity. It should be noted that Ladd has not been simply playing the great music, but has been in the forefront of new music development. He is a musician's musician, and well respected as such by his peers. But it should be noted that it is not just his experiments and new compositions that have brought him such acclaim. His basic musical understanding; his expertise gained from long experience, and his keen grasp of what is needed, all combine to make him one of the best around."
